'Riemu' is a Finnish word meaning 'joy' and is pronounced 'ree-moo' (approximately).  In trying to find a name for this litter, as I did with Keksi's last litter, the Persikka puppies, I looked to the puppies' sire for inspiration.  Ilolas is a Saami word meaning 'joy' and he is called 'Ilo' which is the Finnish form of that word.  Ilolas is also the pet name of his father, Elämänilo, and Ilo is Elämänilo's grandfather's name.  So, in keeping with the sire's family tradition, this litter is called the 'joy' litter, although I have used a different Finnish version of the word, as there are quite enough Ilos and Ilolases in the mix already, I think.
